Interactive sodium tool
Compare Sodium in Two Foods
Enter sodium for the quantity you plan to eat. The tool compares the numbers without assigning a health label to either food.
How to interpret the result
The result is an estimate based on the values you enter. Reference comparisons provide context, not a personal sodium prescription.
Medical information limits
If you have a medical condition or an individualized sodium restriction, follow guidance from your qualified healthcare professional. Read the medical disclaimer.
How this tool works
The Compare Sodium tool compares sodium amounts for two quantities entered by the user.
Inputs
- Food names
- Sodium amount for Food A in mg
- Sodium amount for Food B in mg
Method
Absolute difference = higher sodium amount − lower sodium amount. Percentage difference shown = absolute difference ÷ higher entered amount × 100.
Assumptions
The two sodium values refer to the quantities you genuinely want to compare.
Limitations
A lower sodium number alone does not establish that a food is healthier overall.
